The Illinois Building project involved the complete redesign of a 1,500-square-foot residential lobby and mailroom in Queens — a before-and-after transformation that turned a tired, generic entrance into a space of genuine architectural quality. The brief was to modernise the building’s common areas in a way that would attract and retain residents without a complete structural overhaul.
Studio RB developed a design language of clean geometry, warm materials, and considered lighting that gave the space a sense of arrival it had previously lacked. New wall treatments, flooring, seating, and a redesigned mailroom created a cohesive interior that served the building’s residents and elevated its market position.
