Le Basque is a plant-based bar and brasserie inspired by the culinary traditions of the Basque region. The brief was clear — create an interior that communicates genuine sophistication, not health-food aesthetics. A space that earns its place among New York’s finest dining rooms.
Studio RB designed two distinct worlds across two floors. The ground floor brasserie is warm and welcoming: a hand-selected amethyst marble host stand, golden velvet banquettes nestled in brass-framed arched niches, an Art Deco tin ceiling with exposed oak beams, and a full marble bar with backlit displays. The mezzanine tells a completely different story — light, airy, and dramatic. A full-length skylight floods the dining room with natural light. A sculptural suspended floral installation anchors the ceiling. Blue velvet seating curves around a marble centre spine, framed by brass arches and alabaster sconces. A floor-to-ceiling wine tower and bespoke brass pendant lights at the staircase landing create a moment of pure theatre between the two floors.
